When I was younger and would play with my Barbies, it was this feeling of pure happiness and joy. I had 41 Barbies to be exact, and I loved dressing them up, giving them the most messed-up haircuts and makeovers with pens and nail polishes. I lived for that as a young girl—I got to explore my art and creativity with no limits. Now that I’m older, I can see how that translated into my adulthood.
My 20s have felt inconceivable; I want to do everything all at once and I'm constantly thinking about reaching the next thing so it took me a long time to figure out what it is I’m meant for.
It finally feels like I was made for this. I love the art of styling—putting together beautiful pieces of clothing to make a look that just makes sense. I can’t tell you why it all fits together, but it does, and it turns out to be unique and authentic. That’s what I love about clothes; you can wear the same thing as someone else, yet pull it off completely differently in your own style.
I want to make versatile clothes, ones you can style in a million ways. Maybe not that many, but as a consumer, that’s what I always look for. I’m someone who doesn’t like repeating either and it’s actually a shame that so many clothes get wasted.
So I designed something; I called it Diva.
